Old Smokey !

Old Smokey Joe was back in the air over the weekend of RIAT (July 2001) at RAF Cottesmore. This was the first time I had seen a German F-4 display since 1988. What an impressive sight all that smoke and noise. With the call sign 'RHINO' the Luftwaffe showed that despite it's age the Phantom is still a force to be reckoned  with. It was good to see another example in the static.

The display of 38+10 from JG 74 Luftwaffe.

Pics of 38+00 other in the static right down the far end of the field tucked away with the Mig-29. Can you spot the C-17 ?
